Marjorie Hunt: Celebrating 30 Years
Marjorie Hunt this year celebrates 30 years as a school crossing supervisor and she’s spent the entire time at the same school crossing. The Meadow Heights local supervises the crossing near her home, on Eldorado Crescent, outside Bethal Primary School. Every morning, Marjorie dons her uniform to assist children to safely arrive outside the school, and comes back again in the afternoon before the school bell rings. In three decades, she’s kept thousands of children safe, across a number of generations. School crossing supervisors are in demand across Hume, and Marjorie says that the role offers enormous satisfaction. School crossing supervisors in the Hume area generally need to have a car, a Victorian driver’s licence and be able to travel to suburbs within the municipality. The shifts run between 8am and 9am, and 3pm and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
